FASTING
Fasting has been around for centuries. Religions have periods of fasting regularly. Some of the great philosophers said that fasting gave them clarity.
Recently fasting has become the trend to lose weight, which to be honest, is not rocket science, because if you are not eating, then you are bound to lose weight.
Personally, I've never fasted as I get hungry, which I suppose is an obstacle.
BUT... fasting does have so many benefits.
It WILL lower your blood sugar
It WILL save you money
It WILL give you more time
You WILL lose weight
Unfortunately, in todays society, with so much amazing food surrounding us, fasting may not be the most pleasureable thing to do. Imagine being in a room of people, all munching away, yet you are trying to fast.
DETOX
Detox has so many varieties, fasting being one of them.
By depriving the body of nutrients, it is thought of as a way to detox. There are many other ways to detox
Just fruit
Just greens
Just water
Just raw food
I'm not actually sure how just having one or two food groups can be healthy but I'm not a doctor, so maybe it is.
One thing that I have noticed, is that detox program are often very expensive. Just have a look at some of the programs.
I think it's because detoxing still seems like this mystical magical thing to do, and can only be done with natural, organic, expensive ingredients. Again, I suppose if you have plenty of money to spare, then it is not a problem.
Detoxing will not necessarily lead to weight loss, in fact, sugar laden juices may have the opposite effect. Imagine a fresh orange that you eat. It has fibre in it and you can probably only eat a couple. Yet a glass full of fresh orange juice will have the equivalent of 4 or 5 oranges. All the juice has been squeezed out so none of the fibre remains. That's a lot of concentrated sugar in your "healthy" juice.
The question you have to ask is
"Is this detox plan really getting rid of toxins?"
So what is the best thing to do?
Fasting has some amazing benefits. A good detox has some amazing benefits.
