WONDERS OF A SEATED WORKOUT

BENEFITS & WONDERS OF SEATED EXERCISE

 

A few weeks ago, I had returned from a long flight, late at night and had an online weights class at 6am.

To say I was tired, was an understatement.

I really didn’t have the energy to do a really hard workout, in fact, I was more interested in staying in my bed. I sat on the sofa before the class and thought about just staying there. That was when I decided, for my own selfish reasons (as I was so tired), that I would do the weights resistance class on a chair. Something I always thought was for older people, but I didn't care that day.

 

IT WAS FANTASTIC!

 

Just sitting there made me feel more relaxed and suddenly, I was doing exercises that were still effective. At the end of the session, I did not feel as if I had done anything less than a normal standing routine.

A day after class, I felt after workout aches (good ones) which I realised was because when sat down, I was more supported and so the specific muscle groups were stabilised and working more efficiently. 

 

 

I decided to do the next session seated as well and see if I could focus on the legs and stomach area, as normally you would be standing to do legs and on the floor to do stomach. To my surprise, when doing something like a squat, just the process of sitting down and relaxing the leg muscles, in-between each squat, allowed the muscles to fire up every time I stood up. I could sit near the edge of the seat and then perform leg raises and other forms of stomach exercises effectively. I definitely felt the positive effects the next day.

 

 

As I have been getting older, due top heavy lifting in my younger days, I am very wary of my back, as that has been more vulnerable over the last few years. I noticed that my back was not in any discomfort at all. All due to the chair stabilising me.

 

 

If you want good workout, while staying safe, while feeling comfortable and without compromise, then join me with the 6am club and bring your chair and a small pair of dumbells. If you don't have dumbells, then a couple of small water bottles will do the job.

Our 6am club is very popular and designed for people who want to get a head start to the day. We have a half hour class at 6am. Monday, Wednesday and Friday is dedicated to cardio. Tuesday and Thursday to seated resistance.

The cost is only £8pm, making each live session only 40p.

All the classes are recorded, so they can be enjoyed at any time that is convenient to you.
